Russia and China have voiced worries about the planned deployment of an advanced US missile system to the Korean Peninsula, saying that such a move poses a threat to security in the already tense region.In a statement released on Friday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said Moscow and Beijing share a “mutual serious concern” over the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile system in the South Korean territory. Russia and China believe that such actions by the US and South Korea “can inflict serious damage on the strategic security of neighboring countries … and will further complicate the situation on the Korean Peninsula,” the statement added.
Taiwan is trying to figure out how hackers managed to trick a network of bank ATMs into spitting out millions. Police said several people wearing masks attacked dozens of ATMs operated by Taiwan’s First Bank on Sunday. They spent a few minutes at each of the machines before making off with the equivalent of $2 million stashed in a backpack. They didn’t use bank cards but rather appeared to gain control of the machines with a “connected device,” possibly a smartphone, the police said in a statement Thursday. Authorities are now hunting the thieves, who they say came from Russia and eastern Europe
(CNN)A new composite sketch of a suspect in the mysterious Phoenix serial killings was released Thursday.The suspect is a lanky Hispanic male under 5 feet, 10 inches tall, said Sgt. Jonathan Howard of the Phoenix Police Department. The sketch is the newest development in the ongoing investigation into the man they have named “the serial street shooter.” It’s the result of new witness information.
