West has no plan to end civil war in Ukraine: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with Dmitry Babich, radio host with the Voice of Russia from Moscow, about five members of a family in Ukraine’s eastern city of Luhansk killed in the Ukrainian army shelling.

What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview

Press TV: Now this incident of five members of a family being killed in eastern Ukraine, it is basically testament to the fact that there is a human cost involved in Kiev’s offensive on eastern Ukraine against its own people. Do you think that Kiev understands this?

Babich: I am afraid the new government in Kiev will end up badly, because this government was born out of cruelty. If you remember the so-called peaceful protests in the Maidan square, when policemen were burnt alive by Molotov cocktails and unfortunately this government continued in violent ways after it came to power.

What is most disturbing is the fact that the Western media does not pay any attention to the deaths of civilians in eastern Ukraine. It pays even less attention to it than to the deaths of civilians in Gaza.

It looks like for the Western media only the lives of their allies have any value. The lives of Russian-speaking east Ukrainians, although they are citizens of Ukraine but their native language is Russian, they probably support closer ties to Russia, for the Western media this is a reason enough to consider these people absolutely hostile and to think that their lives have no value.

U.S. says it would view Russia aid deliveries to Ukraine as invasion

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) – Any bid by Russia to deliver humanitarian aid into Ukraine would be viewed as an invasion, the United States said on Friday, warning that Moscow voiced similar concerns for civilians before its brief 2008 war with Georgia.

Russia has offered to send a convoy of aid across the border for displaced civilians. The offer came at an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council that Russia called on Tuesday on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, where a pro-Russian uprising threatens to break up the former Soviet republic of 46 million people.

“Given that Ukraine has allowed international humanitarian groups to deliver aid within its territory, there is no logical reason why Russia should seek to deliver it,” U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, told a Security Council meeting on Ukraine on Friday.

“Therefore, any further unilateral intervention by Russia into Ukrainian territory, including one under the guise of providing humanitarian aid, would be completely unacceptable and deeply alarming. And it would be viewed as an invasion of Ukraine,” Power told the 15-member body.–finance.html

Kiev government serves US, EU, IMF but not Ukrainians

Press TV has conducted an interview with Charlie McGrath, founder of Wide Awake News from Bozeman, about the issue of hundreds of Ukrainian troops seeking shelter in Russia to avoid fighting in the southeastern parts of the country.

What follows is an approximate transcription of the interview.

Press TV: First of all, what do think this means for Ukrainian offensive against the east when so many of its soldiers say that they were left without ammunition, without food, without supply, to the point where they had to seek shelter in Russia?

McGrath: Well, I think it points to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and their demand that any kind of rebel fighting in eastern Ukraine was put down before the next tranche of aid could be delivered to them and I think it also shows that the Ukrainian military is being pushed to encircle the Donetsk and Luhansk region in order to put down this rebellion but they are being pushed to their breaking point, to the point that they are hungry, thirsty and they are not given the basic necessities in order to continue this fight, it is a very tenuous situation that promises to get even more fragile.

Press TV: But does not bending to pressures from the IMF, from the West, particularly from the US harm and put Ukraine’s sovereignty in danger?

McGrath: Absolutely, one-hundred-percent. As far as I am concerned the sovereignty of Ukraine is out the window, Poroshenko, the chocolate king’s government, is completely backed by the West, we saw the spending of billions of US taxpayer dollars to destabilize the government inside of Ukraine, I think there is no question for anybody who is a thinking individual that looks into the reality of the situation on the ground, that pays attention to anything that is happening in Ukraine, they must realize that the will of the Ukrainian people, that being the soldiers fighting on behalf of Kiev or the people in Donetsk, their will is not being served. It is Western banker interest that is being served right now.
